Factory Manager / 2IC
We are looking for an experienced Factory Manager / 2IC to work closely with our Production Manager and take responsibility for the day to day running of our factory. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a team of cabinet makers, driving production targets, maintaining quality standards, managing stock and materials, coordinating machinery maintenance, and making sure the factory operates safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will be a qualified cabinet maker with strong factory leadership experience and the ability to lead from the front while maintaining a positive and productive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the factory team to achieve daily and weekly production targets.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day factory operations and workflow.
- Conduct quality checks on all joinery produced, ensuring work meets MJS quality standards, approved drawings, and project specifications.
- Monitor production, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues to minimise downtime.
- Manage stock levels, materials, and hardware requirements in conjunction with the Production Manager.
- Oversee machinery, equipment maintenance, and general factory upkeep.
- Work closely with dispatch and installation teams to ensure joinery is completed correctly and ready when required.
- Lead by example and work hands-on with the team when required.
- Maintain factory safety, housekeeping and compliance standards.
- Train, develop and hold team members accountable for productivity, quality, and workplace standards.
- Act as the 2IC to the Production Manager, providing leadership and decision-making support across the factory.
Key Requirements
- Qualified Cabinet Maker with strong manufacturing experience.
- Previous experience as a Factory Foreman, Leading Hand, or Supervisor role
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Experience managing production targets and factory workflow.
- Strong understanding of high-end joinery and shopfitting.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings.
- Experience with stock control and material management.
- Strong quality-control and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to work on the tools when required.
- Installation experience highly regarded.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
EXPERIENCED CABINET MAKER
This role is for an experiencedtradesman only, someone who can work independently and deliver high-quality joinery.
You must have:
- Trade qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience
- Strong Cabinet making / shopfitting background
- Curved joinery & laminating experience (non-negotiable)
- Proven ability to build kitchens start to finish
- Experience with veneers and solid timber
- Ability to read drawings and work independently
- White Card & driver’s license
- Forklift license an advantage.
